GWPF Congratulates Boris Johnson On Election Victory

London, 13 December: The Global Warming Policy Forum (GWPF) has congratulated Boris Johnson on his election victory and hopes that a new parliament will be able, over coming years, to develop economically sound and technologically viable energy and climate policies.

Once Britain has left the EU, the new government will have both the political mandate and the ability to develop climate and energy policies that fully reflect the national interest and economic concerns of British families and businesses. Moreover, any international commitments should be based on a genuinely independent assessment of their potential costs and benefits.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson and his MPs now have the mandate and the majority to reform climate and energy policy in such a way that it won't undermine Britain's international competitiveness, hurt businesses and burden households with rising costs.

Benny Peiser, the GWPF Director, said:

MPs should honour their new democratic mandate, particularly by those low-income voters in Wales, the North of England and in the Midlands who have been paying the price of ever rising energy policy costs. Climate and energy policies should lessen the burden for families and businesses and should no longer be driven by London's metropolitan eco-bubble."
