Is Sir Keir about to slay the Green Blob?

Net Zero Watch has lauded Sir Keir Starmer’s new-found realism over decarbonisation, welcoming Labour’s decision to jettison plans to spend £28 billion on green boondoggles.

Net Zero Watch energy director, Dr John Constable said:

It looks as though Sir Keir gets it – green investments don’t represent value for money. Indeed, just the opposite: they will sink the country even further into the mire.

And Net Zero Watch director Andrew Montford emphasised that being seen to stand up to the Green Blob is likely to pay electoral dividends for the Labour Party.

Brave Sir Keir seems to be willing to take on the Green Blob in his party in a way that the Prime Minister can only dream of. The country can’t afford carbon extremism any longer. Slaying the Green Blob will surely pay off at the ballot box.

But Mr Montford warned that Sir Keir’s work has only just begun:

Labour is still hamstrung by the ludicrous pledge to decarbonise the grid by 2030. When that is jettisoned, Sir Keir will start to look like he’s serious.
