Arctic Sea Ice Growing Back Above Average 2000s Levels

The  reduction in Arctic sea ice is playing a significant – although not the only – role in the UK’s recent colder and drier winter weather, according to the Met Office.

This year, however, the extent of Arctic sea ice has been growing back above average 2000s levels and is almost back to 1990s levels.

In the meantime it would appear that the Arctic has re-gained a record amount of ice this winter.
