Myron Ebell, a prominent climate sceptic who led the Environmental Protection Agency transition team for the Trump administration, met advisers but not senior staff or ministers, a Number 10 spokesman said.
“Climate change was not discussed,” the spokesman added, though he declined to say what topics were mentioned, nor whom Mr Ebell saw….
Mr Ebell, who did not return requests for comment, is the director of the centre for energy and environment at the Competitive Enterprise Institute, a libertarian Washington DC think-tank.
He has been in the UK on his way to a conservative environmental conference in Brussels.
He told reporters in London on Monday he believed the environmental movement was “the greatest threat to freedom and prosperity in the modern world” and was confident Mr Trump would act on his campaign pledges to scrap the Paris accord.
