The WWF Plan To Make Energy Unaffordable In Britain By 2030

The WWF have taken time out from controlling the UN IPCC by the back door to produce a politically correct religious tome about how Britain could get 90% of its energy needs from renewables by 2030, without, the need for either coal fired or nuclear power stations.

This is the silly season for warming alarmists as they prepare to commit terrible sins against the Environment by flying to Durban for COP17, so it is no real wonder that this load of  recycled Greenwash is being pushed hard.

The report is more of the same lies about the affordability and the benefits of renewables to the economy,  all underlined with the oxymoron of Green jobs:

The UK could be primarily powered by a secure and inexhaustible supply of renewable energy by 2030 without the need for new nuclear power plants, according to a report commissioned by WWF. Between 60% and 90% of the nation’s electricity could come from wind, solar, tidal and other sustainable sources, with the rest supplied via an international supergrid and gas power stations.

“This report is inspiring, but also entirely realistic. It shows that a clean, renewable energy future really is within our grasp,” said David Nussbaum, chief executive of WWF-UK. “Failure to commit to a high-renewables future would leave us facing the prospect of dangerous levels of climate change and high energy prices.”

The old dangerous levels of Climate Change tale, Britain produces just 1.7% of global CO2 emissions, in effect negligible; the assumption that energy prices will keep rising is at best erroneous, and at worst, a downright Green lie, even the cheerleader for the Church of Climatology in Britain, Chris Huhne, after a serious about turn, says that shale gas has halved the price of gas in the US and will reduce energy prices in Britain.

The report states backing renewables would create hundreds of thousands of jobs and new economic growth. “Investing in clean energy offers us a means to tackle the two most crucial market failures that now confront the world: the financial crisis and climate change,” said Nussbaum. “The only question that remains is, are we bold enough to take it?”

Green jobs are just another Green lie, a recent report by the US House of Representatives Budget Committee concluded that the history of Green jobs is one of universal failure, Spain provides a chilling example of the Green jobs lie, Spain invested early on in the Green economy and found thatevery Green job created cost 2.2 jobs in traditional industries, now the Spanish economy is in flames.

The report calls for a firm renewable target for 2030, to give long-term and stable financial support for the renewable industry.

A recent leaked report from the European Union let the genie out of the bottle with the admission that energy prices will rise sharply up to 2030 and beyond, and that the more wind and solar power in the energy system, the faster prices would rise, when even the warming alarmist EU admits that wind and solar are ridiculously expensive, what the WWF hopes to gain by pushing a discredited lie can only be speculated at.

The report warns of the danger in the less ambitious scenarios of being “locked-in” to high carbon emissions, because once unabated gas plants are built

There in lies the problem for the WWF dream, shale gas is affordable and can easily run power stations and it does not require tax payer Green subsidies to be economically viable, neither does it require 100% backup for days when there is no wind, the wrong type of wind or the bird choppers are frozen solid.
